The Rufty Tufty School Bus

Snow Route (mornings)

Important - we will not use the snow route unless I have e-mailed first thing in the morning to tell you (at about 6.00.am.) 

  • When there is snow, Tappins and I speak together just before 6am and compare notes.

  • If we decide the roads are too bad and agree to cancel the bus, then I'll e-mail all parents at about 6am, or within a few minutes of that time.

  • When we have enough snow to make the roads tricky but not enough to make the roads impossible, we may fall back on a snow route rather than no bus at all. The snow route avoids the hills the bus struggles with. If this is what we are going to do, I will e-mail to say we are using this route, also at about 6am.

  • Even if the bus is running, it doesn't necessarily mean your school is open. Schools often make their "open or closed" decision after the bus has started to pick up passengers.

  • Further on in the journey the bus may be running late as well, depending on how bad the snow is. The A40 into Oxford, and Oxford itself, tend to become semi-gridlocked as soon as a few flakes fall. Passengers waiting at the bus stops in Oxford should wrap up very, very warm.

  • There is no refund for the days the bus does not run due to adverse weather.
