Relays
Year 4 Relays

All schools will run at the same time, one lane per school.

Four runners per team.

The first runner starts on the finish line carrying a baton.

The second runner is at the 60m start line.
-
The third runner is at the finish line.
-
The fourth runner is at the 60m start line.

For the changeover the waiting runner stands with their feet behind the line, in the same lane. The incoming runner passes the baton over. Once the waiting runner has the baton in his/her grip then they start running. Children should not cross the line until they have the baton in their hand.

The race ends when the fourth runner crosses the finish line carrying the baton.

Year 5 & 6 Relays

All schools will run at the same time, one lane per school.

The entire circumference of the track will be used, the race travelling in an anti-clockwise direction.

Four runners per team. Each athlete will run 100m. Each team will complete 400m.

A staggered start will be in operation. The staggers are almost 7m apart.

The changeover spot is marked by a white line between two yellow lines. The waiting athletes will stand on the white line. Marshals will be on hand to ensure correct positioning.

IMPORTANT: Athletes handing over the baton should stay in their lane until the race has passed them by. Failure to do so could result in a collision with an in-flight runner.

Athletes taking the baton should take great care to stay in their lane.

The entire race is run in lanes, and lane discipline is critical for safety. Teams crossing lanes will be disqualified.

The race ends when the fourth runner crosses the finish line carrying the baton.
Cannonball Relay

All schools will run at the same time, one lane per school.

Six runners per team.
-
The first runner (Y4G) starts on the finish line carrying a baton.
-
The second runner (Y4B) is at the 60m start line.

The third runner (Y5G) is at the finish line.

The fourth runner (Y5B) is at the 60m start line.

The fifth runner (Y6G) is at the finish line.
-
The sixth runner (Y6B) is at the 60m start line.
