Standing long jump
-
This is a two footed jump from a standing start into a sandpit.
-
Athletes jump from a marked line. If they step over the line during the jump it is a foul and the jump is not measured.
-
The distance measured is from the rear most mark the athlete makes in the sand (feet, hands, etc) back to the marked line.
-
All athletes will have three jumps in total. All competitors will take their first jump, then all competitors take their second jump, etc.
-
The longest jump is counted as the athlete’s final distance.
| Tip: Drum into the children after they land they must walk FORWARDS out of the pit. If they walk backwards or sideways they risk putting another mark in the sand behind where they landed, and shortening their jump. The marshals will be on hand to help, but the children must take care to not spoil their jump. |
